One more Dash 8 aircraft is currently being prepared for taking a new MSS 7000 system into operation on board. The iconic red planes of Canada’s NASP are a pillar in helping Canada stay safe. The work of the NASP includes preventing pollution in Canadian waters, protecting our marine environment and endangered marine life (amongst others protecting whales), and ensuring a safe and efficient transportation industry along Canada’s massive and varied coastlines. While NASP operations are led by Transport Canada, they represent a larger coordination effort with many partners including federal departments like Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, and Environment and Climate Change Canada, as well as provincial governments and private sector partners. We are proud to know that our systems keep contributing to the continued success of the National Aerial Surveillance Program.

The new MSS 7000 system will be delivered to Canada for installation on board their new Dash 8 aircraft. Once the system has been checked out in-flight, ST Airborne Systems will provide training for operators and maintenance engineers.
Since 2006, Transport Canada has been operating three MSS 6000 systems installed on two Dash 8 aircrafts and one Dash 7 aircraft as part of the NASP. These aircrafts are a pillar in preventing pollution in Canadian waters, protecting the marine environment and endangered marine life, and ensuring a safe and efficient transportation industry along their massive and varied coastlines.
Through the Government of Canada’s Oceans Protection Plan, the fleet of iconic red aircrafts has also worked to survey and determine the position of the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale species in the Gulf of St. Lawrence to help protect them from getting entangled in fishing nets or being hit by ships. The NASP also plays a role in protecting the Southern Resident killer whale in southern British Columbia coastal waters. The new MSS 7000 equipped Dash 8 aircraft is expected to greatly contribute to this task.

All the required functions of the MSS 7000 were assessed, and we had the opportunity to get useful input from Transport Canada’s experienced operators on how they use our systems. This type of exchange of information is invaluable for us and is how our systems have developed over the years. The result is the user-friendly, state-of-the-art system which we are able to offer today, and we will continue to improve and adapt our systems based on the current and future needs of our customers.
Since 2006, Transport Canada has operated the MSS 6000 system on board their Dash 7 and Dash 8 aircrafts. Later this year, the new MSS 7000 will be installed on the Transport Canada’s third Dash 8 aircraft, which is currently undergoing modifications to prepare for installation of the new system.

On this positive note, we would like to wish you and your family and friends a happy, peaceful and safe Easter holiday.
Best wishes from the
ST Airborne Systems Team

The past year has indeed been different with very limited physical meetings. And it seems this situation will stay with us for some time to come. So while we look forward to a time when we can meet in person again, we soldier on, probably just as you do, working hard to realize new opportunities. We have entered some new business projects that will allow us to continue to develop and refine our MSS 7000 system to meet new requirements. So please contact us to see if we can assist you in meeting yours.
As you know the MSS 7000 is already a truly scalable system which allows us to offer cost effective solutions for small or large rotary and fixed wing applications everything from environmental surveillance, search and rescue to border control. Through our cooperation with Bromma Air Maintenance (BAM) we can take on turnkey projects including surveillance systems and special mission aircraft for a variety of uses.
Please note that our office will be closed from 23rd December to 3rd January, but we will be most happy to hear from you before during or after the holidays.
We send you our very best wishes for the Season. We hope you can enjoy the holidays in the circle of close family and friends and come back with new enthusiasm in the new year. Keep safe!

Still, we want to stay in touch, and if you now have the time to oversee your airborne surveillance needs, we will be here to support you.
If you need information or would like to discuss your requirements, please call or e-mail us and we will be happy to explore the possibility to meet virtually, and to make sure you can get the information you need. We invite you to take advantage of our more than 40 years of experience in this field!
Another opportunity to meet in cyberspace will be the Maritime Search and Rescue conference in Tallinn on 13-14th May which has now been converted to a virtual event. We still plan to be present (virtually), both to exhibit and to give a presentation. So please come and join us. You will find more information about the event here, and you can register here. Please also note that Coastguards, First Response, Ship Operators and Government Agencies can now register free of charge.
In the meantime, please rest assured we are continuing our work to improve our airborne maritime surveillance system, taking into account the viewpoints of our system operators all over the world, as well as incorporating the latest technology. Our MSS 7000 – Airborne ISR Multi-Mission Management System – we believe may be the most cost-effective solution in existence for meeting your specific surveillance needs. Please read more on our website and in our brochure and let us know if you need further information. As we said, we will be happy to set up a call or an online meeting at this time and hope we will be able to meet in person again before too long.

Until then, please take care and stay healthy!
Best wishes
from your ST Airborne Systems Team
]]>Although we have many restrictions and face unprecedented challenges at this time we do believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. We will not see you at Farnborough this year, as the organisers have just cancelled it, but we hope to keep in touch by other means.

In the meantime, we happily note that spring is about to arrive in Sweden.
Please take care of yourselves and your families and do your best to keep safe and healthy!
